Heat Pumps are a well proven technology that have been in use for decades across the world, they are able to heat and cool using minimal electrical input. Heat pumps are a low carbon technology, they do rely on some electrical input but this is far outweighed by the output they are able to produce.

There are many different types of heat pump, the most common in nearly every home is the refrigerator, which most people do not realise is a heat pump. The two main types of heat pump that can be used to heat the home are ground source heat pumps and air source heat pumps. Both of these are growing in popularity as an affordable low carbon technology.
