Scultpture Workshop Gifted Solar Panels in Scotland
The Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop is under going a multimillion pound project to reconstruct the building and create a more sustainable future. ScottishPower Green Energy Trust has gifted £8,000 work of solar panels to the project.
The original building was highly inefficient and in winter the temperature would often only be a degree or two above the outside temperature. The new building will have 8 solar thermal panels fitted to the roof to provide energy efficient hot water throughout the building.
Alison McKean, who is the Senior Environmental and Social Policy Manager at ScottishPower, said: “It’s very rewarding for the ScottishPower Green Energy Trust to provide funds for this remarkable project which is promoting sculpture and art in Scotland and across the World.”
The new building will have 26 artist studios and 8 spaces designed for production, research and education as well as areas for the artists and sculptors to socialize. This is a great example of solar panels in Scotland and would not be happening if it wasn’t for the team at ScottishPower.
Solar thermal panels are really important to the energy market, along with photovoltaic solar panels that create energy that can be used to power the home or workplace. Solar power is key to the future of energy production as is it clean, energy that is helping to cut the UK’s carbon emissions and to slow the rate of climate change.
